Neypi Balinese New Year 1931

Yesterday was New Years eve for the year 1931. Today is a day called Neypi, which is a day for silence and meditation for the Hindu's of Bali. No noise is allowed, no fires, and no one is allowed outside the family compound. Even the airport is closed for this unique day.

Bob and Anne return on their umpteenth visit to Rambutan in March 2009. Great to see you both again and look forward to seeing you in June for Putu's wedding

Wolfgang returns

Wolfgang is staying with us again and this time for 3 months. He and his two friends, Irma and Christiane love enjoying a pinacoloda by the pool.

Rambutan's Thanks giving ceremony

Its called Mangguh in Balinese and is basically a thanks giving ceremony. We did this a few days ago at Rambutan thanking the Gods for everything. Was a fun ceremony with lots of lovely Babi Guling (roasted pig) to eat afterwards.

Christmas 2008

For the first time Rambutan had a Christmas Eve party as well as our normal Christmas lunch. The kids were great at both events providing the entertainment. There were the normal 60 odd kids but luckily Indonesian kids are pretty well behaved. Enjoy the photos.
